I just bought a laptop.

its dual core with 2gb Ram and 256 shared for video card. (3100 accelerator)

System is Vista Premium

I installed Splinter Cell Double Agent but it would give me an error:

"Shared Model 1.1 is the minimum required to run the game"

Whats that model and where can i download it?

Any input is appreciated.

Shader model is essentially a set of software instructions to render something.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shader

The graphics card [display adapter] has to support it also. But Maybe trying to download and install the latest DirectX may help.

Mainly, the problem is Vista.

HE isnt lying. Vista sucks balls for some games. And for others... its perfectly fine.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

THAT is why XP is on every machine I own

No, actually it isn't....... O.P., you need a card that supports directx9 (shader 3.0). You could try a program like this that emulates this for older cards.(I've never used this so it may work it may not). I really don't think that game will run well with integrated video.

it means your videocard sucks. i think u need at shaders 2.0, or 3.0. its not something u can download, its what your hardware supports. its like saying "requires 4gb ram to play" for instance, u cant download ram. u need a better videocard to play it. btw that is one of the shittiest pc games ubi has ever made. i couldnt even finish it becuz of so many glitches and problems, and that was over a year ago.

The x3100 supports up to shader model 3, so that isn't the problem. However, odds are it's not even worth trying to figure out what's wrong as the x3100 blows goats for gaming, anyways.

Most laptop GPU's are pretty bad for gaming, especially Intel. You need to find a laptop that has one of only a handful of mobile graphic cards from nVidia or ATI.

But anyway, installing the latest drivers for the x3100 should give you support for that shader model.

return the laptop, i recently purchased a laptop from newegg with a geforce 8400m G , (kinda crappy but does play new games) ... i play crysis, bioshock, CoD 4, world in conflict, and others... has like a 160 gig hd, 2 gigs ram, 17" screen, yes it does have windows vista, but its been working great for me! i payed about $1000 exactly from newegg... its an awsome computer, does what i need it to do .. also has one of those little 2" subwoofers that trys its best to reproduce bass freq's
