Question about UPS insurance claims

How long is the time period to file a claim? A person contacted me today about a sub that I sold to him on ebay, which I shipped out on 12/17/07 and he received on the 24th, well he said he just got home and opened it up and one of the spokes is broken. I paid for insurance on it, but I'm guessing the time ran out to file a claim.

Yep, it's done. You have a really strong case if the damage is reported when the package is delivered and the driver is still there. Beyond that, you have a few days when they'll take you seriously. I'd call UPS and explain the situation, but don't hold your breath.

oh really, well that's some good news, I know I packed it well so I'm hoping this guy gets a refund from UPS, because I can't afford to refund him out of my pocket

Apparently you don't know how this works. You are suppose to refund out of your own pocket and forget about UPS. Buying insurance is just a novelty.

well, my roomate has been working on one for about 3 weeks now. they keep giving him the run around and have tried to deny his claim 3x now.
