Last night I was pulled over for doing 77 in a 60, and I also wasnt wearing my seat belt. So the cop writes it all out, gives me the ticket and says I can pay a waiver within 7 days blah blah any questions call the number on the back. So he goes back to his car and I leave. When I get to my buddies house I look at the ticket and its kinda like this. It has a box checked for "Speed 77 in 60" and $333.03 written next to it. The next two boxes had to do with alcohol and a drivers license violation (suspended, not on person, etc.) so those are blank. The next box checked is for "Safety Belt - Failure to wear - Driver" and has $337.27 written next to it. My question here is when I send the money in, how much exactly am I paying? Is it $337.27 because thats the higher number, so its like both of the fines together? Or am I paying $670.30, since thats what the two add up to? Either way, those fines seem outrageous. I called that number so I could check and of course its a machine, but it did give information on how much a fine is for certain traffic offenses. From what the machine said, I should be paying $160 for the speeding and $86 for the seatbelt. I really have no idea whats going on, so hopefully someone can shed some light on this for me.
