ninja gaiden black problems

im playing ninja gaiden: black on my xbox360. i dont know if it matters that its an xbox game, and im playing it on the 360... but i cannot figure out how to use "nimpos" nimpos are supposed to be special attacks, and i cant figure out how to use them. i have one equipped, but nothings happening. i belive the game wil be quite hard to play without being able to use all of the games features. anyone got some help?
