Question about Sundown Amps...

Okay, I'm looking at a Sundown SAZ-1000D. It's rated at 600 watts at 2 ohms. Obviously they're underrated amps. Has anyone benched one of these? If so, what kind of numbers did it show? Also, is it by any chance .5 ohm stable?
Kind of an ignorant statement. Just because its sundown doesn't mean it automatically does more power than rated. After rise on burps you should be fine. Idk for daily tho. Most amps 1ohm stable amps will do .5ohm because after rise they are above/around 1 ohm.

Power will vary slightly amp to amp. You will definately see the 600wrms though. All the SAZ amps are .5ohm stable....NO WARRANTY if ran at .5 though.

Well I guess my question is will there be a noticable difference if I were to switch to a Sundown SAZ-1000D? My current amp, an Alpine MRD-M605 tested at 638 watts RMS at 2 ohms. I do realize the Sundown is a much better built amp, but would it really be worth the upgrade?

The 1000 is optimized for 1 ohm as with our other Class-D amps, so I doubt there would be significant gain for you.
PS: Our ratings are 12.8v for all amps.
Thanks for your honesty about it being a significant upgrade. If I were to run something like the 2000d at 2 ohms, would I need to run 1/0 power and ground wires or is that only if I'm going to be running it at 1 ohm? Would 4 AWG wire suffice for a 2 ohm application?

At 2 ohms you can run the 2000D with 4 awg wire, yes.
Sweet, that might be something I'd eventually upgrade to then. It's a little more than I want to spend, but who knows come tax season. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

In your testing or other ppl in the other forums, have they been used @ .5 for burps , if so was there any damage?

Also. on the 4500d what do you suggest as far as electrical upgrades.. I might pull the trigger on one soon

For a burp there was no damage.

I would go for a 200-300 amp alternator and two XS Power D3100s + a starting battery for a 4500D at least.
