Question about my BOSE system.

Ello?
Ok, I have a stock BOSE system in my car (everything is BOSE). I was told that i would have to replace all four speakers if i want to replace the head unit, because only the BOSE head unit works with the BOSE speakers. If this is the case, then i'll have to spend $150 more than I intended to spend. Anyone know? :stuck:

BS.
About the only thing I'd keep there is the head unit...if that. You need a LOC (line-output-converter) from the head unit, then you can run it into any external amplifier.
Well i'm wanting to change my head unit (it's a tape player and makes weird noises when changing volume). A car audio professional told me this so i dont think it'd be BS...ill just wait and see i guess.

Bose does their own thing, and they're VERY weird about mixing their products with others, or even comparing them with numbers for that matter.

Talked with a guy at the Bose store in the Charlotte, NC mall for a while when I was up there. Bose is pure SQ, their stuff kicks *** and they know it. The dude wouldn't give me any numbers as far as specs on their products because most of their advantage comes through in the engineering of their products, not just what the speaker can handle. I mean really, how many of you have heard that wave radio of theirs? Thing's smaller than like a shoebox and it's one of the finest sources of audio I've ever heard. They don't give a shit about whether or not their stuff will work with other manufacturers because they don't want you using it with theirs anyways.

I hate it though...some high quality Bose components in my car would kick *** and they don't do aftermarket.

*rantBOSE= ripoff. not worth the money at all. yes i do hate BOSE.

5 1/4" subs yeah right!
Haha, I figured that'd end up coming along.

Don't have anything to base an agreement or disagreement on, but I can say that for someone who knows little to nothing about audio and just wants stuff that sounds nice, they get it done nicely. They've already paired all their stuff up and you just buy it and have a **** good sounding home theater. Granted, it's pricey...very pricey...

For most Bose systems, if you want to keep the Bose speakers, you have to keep the Bose amps to run them. There are third-party adapters designed to allow a new head unit to work with the Bose amps.

What kind of car is it?
