Question about Monsoon System and DVD

I put an eclipse naviagtion unit in my 2006 g6 and had a question about hooking up the stock speakers. They are run by an amp and I wasn't sure what to do. I assumed I couldn't use the speaker outputs on the deck beause that signal would be amplified before going into the stock amp. I almost need to convert the rca outputs on the deck to speaker wires. Is there a way to do this?

You could get an adapter harness and just solder RCA ends to the speaker leads; but in fact the GM Monsoon systems I've seen are designed to work with a high level input. They do just fine hooked up to the speaker outputs of aftermarket decks.

i guess i will just hook up the speaker inputs and see how it works. I dont want to damage anything though. You're sure that the amplified high level inputs can be sent to the monsoon amp and not damage it in anyway, or damage the speakers with a clipped signal?

No; not all Monsoon systems are alike and I haven't worked on a G6. However, I have hooked up GM Monsoon systems this way in the past and encountered no problems. You won't endanger anything by hooking it up and trying it out at low volume. If you're not comfortable with the volume level after you hook it up, then just disconnect it and solder RCA ends onto the speaker wires instead.
