Question about headphones.....

Not really a question about them, but how can they play form 15hz all the way up to 22khz..... I was listening to mine today, and it occured to me that they have no crossover, not much amplification, hardly any excursion, but can sound like any other speaker. I do relize that they are really close to your ear, but still how come there arent any speakers "like" that found in any other forms of audio reproduction.

It helps that they're right next to your ear...

Sounds like my main setup //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Mine too! Sadly mine won't do near 15hz-22khz. =p

Like JimJ said, the secret is that it's right up against the ear. Put an inefficient spl woofer within 2 or 3 inches of your ear and it doesn't need more than a watt or two to get loud, much less an ultra-efficient headphone driver.

It's all about pressure and exciting the air. There is a hell of a lot more air in your car than there is between the headphones and eardrum. Take the headphones off and have them try to pressurize the air in your room. I bet the low frequency extension will drop off pretty quickly.
