Question about Gain setting

If you can make these assumptions then you can trust the DVM. You must assume you know where your HU starts clipping and you have to assume your amp can deliver the rated power or the power you choose to send your speakers without clipping.

you can train your ears to hear clipping, and to pick out different frequencies. its called Golden Ears. check it out.

IMO you should do all your amp tuning by ear. if it sounds good to you why not? numbers dont mean ****.

but only use your ears if you know what you are doing lol...

while i usually agree with the numbers don't mean **** philosophy, this is one instance where it does mean **** because of the potential to damage your speakers.

LOL - mine was a higher end model too - iirc deh-9300. Low mileage too, it was sitting around for year collecting dust.

One or two, they are still subwoofer outs and are mono summed signals from both left and right. Even the 2 RCA subwoofer pre-outs on the 2nd one...
