Question about Deadener

Can you install deadener in the winter? I am getting sick of the ghetto rattle and so are my neighbors (only when tuning / toying).

I wanted to know if it was possible to set peal 'n seal, SS, or dynamat in a cold *** indiana temperature... any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

It'll stick better when the car/deadener are warmer. Just park in the garage to keep you and your car out of the wind and shit, you can use a heat gun (or hair dryer) to heat up the deadener and the area on your car before you apply it. Not the ideal conditions, but I've done it before and it worked fine.

pretty much what squeak said, here in iowa its not too cold yet so if you plan on doing it soon just wait for a warm day. If you must do it in cold temperatures, just lay it down and go over it with a heat gun to insure that it sticks well.

asphalt mats like rammat, fatmat, edead, brownbread, and p&s need to be above 60 degrees to adhere properly. the warmer they get the better they stick. with asphalts, heating them up actually causes them to melt (even if on a small level) thick will increase the tackness.

butyl mats like Dynamat extreme, stinger road kill expert, and second skin Damplifier require no heat to stick properly. even at 30 degrees...

that being said, all EVERY SINGLE pressure sensitive adhesive will benifit by heating it up. the butyl ones will stick with out failure however while the asphalt ones may not stick at all...

Hmm, i'm not sure if i have the butyl SS or not.....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Either way, i put my SS on in february (cold *** chicago weather). I had my truck in the garage, had a fire going in the wood burning stove, and got the temp to ~55*. I used a hair dryer to make it more pliable and i havent had any problems.

The only slight problem i have is some of it coming off the roof because i tried to stretch it too much to cover more area, and once summer rolled around (100*+) it started to come off in some places. So i sliced and diced here and there, covered up the exposed areas, and no problems since.

Feel free to do it in the winter.

I just bought 13sq ft of dynamat off of someone in the forums....cant remember the name right now but thanks!...and I am going to put it on this weekend, here is cold *** Iowa weather. Its actually raining at the moment and might possibly turn to snow. Hard to say here in the midwest
