question about car vibrations

looked at it this morning, not really sure how to get it off, i feel like i might be able to snap it off, but i didnt wanna keep pulling on it just in case...

is this something i could probably take to my mechanic that he might be able to fix? if not, any kind of specialty shops i should consider?

ill take a pic this afternoon and upload it so you can see what it looks like.

Don't need to take it to a mechanic for that. You'll figure it out. If you have enough slack around the edges of the panel, you could stuff something between the panel and the ceiling. Small piece(s) of foam, towel, tshirt, etc. to take up the slack.

You could get on an Eclipse forum and ask how to remove the panel. I'm sure other owners of that car would know..

ok, so i got a new system put in my car last week. and i noticed it rattled like crazy, so i dynamatted the whole car, doors and trunk... definitely eliminated the rattle, bass sounds so good now without overdoing it. but now i noticed there was still a rattle. i couldnt figure out what it was coming from.. low and behold it was my interior lights. like the light panel in the ceiling. when i hold the panel still it doesnt make the noise, but when i let it go it rattles... i can move it back and forth a little with my hands... does anyone know anyway i can tighten it? and if not. do you think if i took it to like my mechanic he would be able to tighten it? thanks for the input
clear silion or a hot melt glue gun, anything clear and sticky (no not that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif )

^^ haha.. ill goto the auto parts store after work today and look for some clear silicon, i know they have some, and ill try that around the edges and see if that helps. thanks for the tips

I had a Dodge car, and i felt that thing with form expander, then dynamated then whole thing with extreme. I had two 15" Crossfire with a MA 2000D. It still rattled. That sucked.

Will you still be able to change out the bulbs when they burn out, or is there a seperate piece to remove for that?

^ not good, haha. im hoping there is a way i can get it to stop rattling, im sure there has to be a way to secure that panel

^blah, i didnt even think of that, you make a good point, id have to remove the panel to take the bulbs out. so obviously i wouldnt wanna seal it in... good call

^ its the actual light panel.. not the on off switch.. like the actual casing for the whole light panel... like if i hold the sides of it in place it doesnt rattle. but when i let it go, it rattles, and i can move the whole unit a little bit back and forth with my hands.. i'm sure there has to be a way to tighten it in place somehow, i just don;t know how
my explorer does that. just try to wat in paper towel or rolled up toilet paper in the seam of the light cover.

Remove the panel with a plastic panel popper, if you have one. If not, just use a wide flat-head screwdriver with a tshirt over the tip and pry around the edges. If there's no exposed screws and no other removable panels on it, it's gotta come off like that.

Once you get it out, you can stuff something between the housing and the roof and on the sides so it fits snug. Should solve the problem unless something internal is rattling inside.

^^ sounds good, ill take a look at it after work and see what i can do.

well i didnt want to seal the fixture. and i couldnt get it open. so after about an hour of prying on it, i finally got the cover off. i didnt know what to use to cover it so i took an old foam rag i had and cut it up until it would fit. its definitely a tight fit now. it took a lot of strength to force it back in. i couldnt move it with my hands, and even if it did move, i don't see how it could rattle anymore given the goam surrounding it, so we shall see how it works. im about to go get some food, so ill let you guys know, thanks for all the tips.

just got back with it. it definitely sounds a lot better.. every now it rattles a little, not sure why it only does it rarely but it does. like i heard maybe 5 songs on the way there and back. and it did it twice.. during different songs, once a piece, but when i replayed the track back, it didnt do it again. so its not like it was that 1 note making it rattle cause it hit extra hard. but it definitely sounds a lot better. I have a feeling it might get loose again after awhile, but its something that can be fixed i suppose

so thank you to everyone that gave me the ideas and helped me out, i really appreciate it.
