question about buying an item

about how long before i should wait before i file fo a dispute thru paypal.

i paid for the item on friday(the 15th) ad he said he would ship on tuesday,going on thurseday and there has not been any contact since friday.from friday to today im sure he had enough time to pack it and get it ready,and to contact me to let me know he shipped it or he didnt.
