Question about building a sub box

Here is hte pic of it

I just went down and held it up to the s ub and it looks like I will be able to screw it in fine. Should I put together the box first then cut out the hole or do I need to cut the hole first? Also where should I put the hole in that box plan above and how big should it be?

I got the baffle cut wrong I think. I got it cut at 23.5 inches like it said in the cut sheet but it really should be about a foot longer. Ill just cut that one peice tomorrow

Ok so what else do I need

I have the wood, screws, and wood glue. I am probably going to use the terminals from my other box that doesnt matter right? And do I need caulk?

Use silicone, not caulk. Build the box before you cut out for the sub, but be sure not to put any screws where you'll be cutting. The cut out needs to be 11 1/8 inches. Drill pilot holes and don't screw close to the edges. Don't get discouraged if you mess up because most everybody does on their first box. Good luck.

So what do I do with the silicone? Put that on after I glue it or what?

Put enough glue on so that it squeezes out the sides as that's where the majority of your box strength comes in. Wipe off the excess while it's still wet. After the glue dries apply silicone to all joints. Once you get more experience building boxes the silicone may become unnecessary but I'd definately use it your first time. Spend some time searching old threads here about box building and it'll save you some problems.

Ok sounds good.

Do I need to put anything else inside the box and do you think it would be ok to use the terminals from my old MA audio sub?

You don't need anything else as far as sealant goes. Your old terminals should be fine as long as you can get them out of your old box in good shape. post pics along the way and we can give you some tips on what to improve on. Have fun with it and don't let it stress you out.

Alright. I am going to start tomorrow. Ill post some pics as well
Think this will be enough carpet or should I order 2?

I believe you need 2 linear yards if you get it from there. Wal-mart has 3' by 6' rolls for around $10 and you should be able to get by with one roll of that. Don't forget the adhesive. The 3m on the bottom of that parts express page is what I'd use. They have it at Wal-mart too. One can should be enough.
