Hello.
So i switched my setup from last time to (2) 13w7 JL subs in a custom ported box in the Regal. I had both hooked up to 1 JL 1000/1v2 amp but was planning on installing the other 1000/1v2 soon once i had enough power to run both. The subs sound great and have some power but one day i had the trunk open with the music playing real low and with my ear next to the sub i noticed a humming sound. I turned the music up and it can't be heard.
So with the music off i pressed both subs in with my hand slightly and noticed that the same sub does have a slight scratching sound when pressed in. The other sub has nothing.
I removed the speaker wires connected to the amp and checked resistance on both subs. Each sub was just about the same at 2.57 ohms. They are wired to 3 ohms since they are 13w7's.
Now my question is should i be concerned about that subwoofer? I do have a warranty on it, but it is going to be difficult for me to remove the sub since the whole box needs to be disassembled in order to get it out of the car (long story but barely enough room to fit the ported box in the trunk.) Plus the cost of shipping the huge thing back and forth for the warranty probably will be pricey.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thank you!
