Q's for atheists and maybe hardcore agnostics

Some ofthe more hardcore physicist wrestle with this idea often. Mainly concerning the moon. Does it exist when we do not look at it?
This leads me to wonder if other people do not exist when I do not "observe" them...and then my head begins to hurt.
ah yes, Philosophy 101. If a tree falls and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

I've never understood that shit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Just because you didnt see me stick my penis in your mom doesnt mean it didnt happen...

Are you suggesting the influece of the observer determines the location. I do not believe that to be correct. The observer may define the location, but he doesn't determine it. He may calculate the probability wave...still, if we continue to use the anology, God has to exist somewhere...correct?
No. All matter is energy and all energy is matter. E=mc^2. They co-exist. YOU determine where and when the the space-time continuum (field of relativity.)

No thing exists in the Godhead (esoteric view of sub-atomic world). All potential exists.

The material world is an illusion, or maya. Search the term "lens of maya."

Then how can many observers reach the same conclusion? How can people share similar realities if the determination of the location of matter is left up to the individual?

Or are we getting into Solipsism now?

but are we talking about observation as in physical observation or merely a mental recognition of what we believe to exits?
Either/or. It's pure consciousness.

Ex] Zen monks devote their entire lives stripping themselves of everything. They spend hours and hours trying not to think of anything, just simply BEING. If you want to get close to God, according to this philosophy, you should not believe or do anything.

Well you can't really observe things that are in your mind, as things in your mind may or may not exist. If one only observed things in their mind; how could one seperate imagination from reality?
but that's what i'm getting at about God and Foxpro's explanation, I believe, of something existing only through the physical observation. Maybe i'm just confused

How am i to know that what you said is true and if it, at all happened. I was not there to see it or hear it or pick it up with any of my senses.

It really relates more to the empiricists than anyone else I think.

Then on that note, it is even more unstable to simply ground the idea of God and his being. If talking about the consciousness then it is individual construct and never one entity/ideal that all can share. This just means that God, or the idea of God, is shaky at best.

I hope that made sense //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

That is different. Both you and the lucky lady observed the said BJ.

Yes, especially since man is fallible. Maybe we are all believing in the wrong god.

Memory. How do you know if it's real or a figment of your imagination? What is deja vu? Is it real?

Not sure what that is.

I agree, this is deep, deep, philosophical shit. But who actually thinks of this before they drop their hard earned $$$ in the bowl at church Sunday morning. The Catholic Church didn't become the world's largest, most wealthiest corporation overnight. And yes, it is a corporation. That means it's a business. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
