I was thinking about building a fiberglass box dont know if ported or seald yet.i was thinking a kicker l5 with close to the max rms power.how much of the box should be fiberglass so it dont blow apart.Just the front were the subs at or should i use all wood and no fiberglass for a more durable box.

fiberglass is pretty strong. if you blow it apart with an L5, it wasn't made well enough //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I would only use fiberglass where it is necessary . No sense in going to all the trouble to make big flat fiberglass panels when mdf is already flat to begin with //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

isnt a cured 1/4" of fiberglass mat and resin equal the strength of 3/4" mdf????

Depends on size , shape , lamination .................... But why go to the trouble ? Not saying don't use fiberglass. Just saying if your not gonna see the back of it , and or don't need the airspace. MDF with just a fiberglass front will save an arse load of time and money //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well break out the carbon fiber, kevlar, and divinicell and make an enclosure stronger than fort knox , and weighs less than a conventional enclosure . I don't know either really //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

thanks for the replies guys, much apprieciated i was thinking i would build a box in the side of the trunk behind the taillight.Between the wheelwell area i dont know(maybe not enough airspace) just thinking of something clean and not alot of space.
