Purpose of Dual Power Inputs?

I am curious what is the reasoning of two power inputs on an amp? Currently I ran one single input and subs worked perfectly. But I am curious if my performance or anything will increase if I hookup the other power input.

I tried to hookup the power cables (12V Gnd, Remote) from splicing from the current power cables because they run into both of my batteries. But I got the pos and neg wires mixed up and blew my fuses.

Bottom line what is the point of the dual power input?

Getting more voltage and current supply to an amplifier you might be pushing harder. Say a 2500w amp with only one set of inputs, may be drawing more current than 1 run of 0 gauge could supply, especially if you're running the amp at half-ohm or less. OR, like my silly Mmats 2k amp which only has one 4 gauge input.

For the most part you won't have to worry about it. If you don't know what they're for, you're not gonna need them.
