you're looking for low end extension.. from a sealed box.. that requires displacement ability.. and power handling.. (you'll want some good power)

Brahma 12"

A 12"

 

all 3 will do the job in 1-2 cuft sealed.. and would be the best overall bet

What about a ported box? I've never built one before and unloading the driver and ****ing it up kinna scares me.. If need be, I have room for up to 5 cuft.

Will the 12" Brahma handle ok in a downfiring/upfiring position?

also: how are IDmax's? I hear a lot of hype, just wonder if they deliver. Any places where I can find prices??

I'd definitely opt for the A series...Awesome SQ and can get very loud if you want it to.

Specs seem pretty good, only 1.5 cu.ft. recommended for the 15", 1 cu.ft. for the 12". How does this sub fare with rap and techno?? They don't list LE (inductance, ie resistance to change) so I can't really tell from specs..

Brahma w/ black dustcap. The Adire guys said they'd send me a Brahma w/ a blank dustcap. Also the JL Audio 12W3 looks bad *** (better than the Brahma) but AFAIK JL Audio subs **** compared to Adire/XXX/Ed??/Image Dynamics

Just goes to show, peoples taste in looks varies greatly. I personally think the Brahma is an ugly woofer...ah well.

Like I said, it will be firing torwards the floor, so you won't see it anyways.

Couldn't afford a new amp or box, so I just removed my 3 10" Xplods, sawzall'd the front of the box open, threw on a new sheet of MDF and mounted the Brahma up.. ran of a 600W (~ 20W more like it) Jensen Amp and it was ****ing awesome, but could be better IMO. I figure most of this was poor box sealing, shitty amp, shitty interconnects and shitty speaker wire.

Now I just want to buy the best I can buy, cuz I can afford to and want to do it right in the first place.

I've decided to ditch the 15" however.. two 12" A's/Brahma's/XXX's are in order.

First thing's first, I gotta email all these companies and make sure there products can handle downfiring (magnet on top).

I'm almost positive they can all be inverse mounted and play fine.

tough choice on all of those....flip a coin...you'll be happy either way u go......as for downfiring its ok on any sub so long as its all wired right.....
