My 17 yr old son was told at the start of the school year he could only use his comp on the w/end and I would keep it during the week, well I have bad memory and so thursday I asked him why he didn't give it to me and he said I had homework(myspace I'm sure)so I said you can't attend the luau at school tonight,so 5 oclock he is nowhere to be found,I go to bed at 1030 and he still isn't home so I ask him the next day and he lies and said he was at the park not knowing I already knew he went so I tell him to quit the football team and this fuccer comes home yesterday and I asked him did you quit and he said"were you serious"Was I too harsh"So bottom line is he defied me and lied.

I don't find taking away an extra curricular like football as a good approach. It is after all teaching him skill sets he may just actually use in life. He does need to be disciplined though.

quit football? you have to be kidding. thats terrible parenting in my opinion. take away something else. i'm sorry but you dont teach your kid anything by being a dick.

no offense. i would be wicked pissed if i were you.

Hell no!

I wish my Dad kicked my *** during my 17-19 phase. It would have made my life alot easier today.

He'll hate you now, but love you later. If you don't put your foot down you will become a doormat.

Just remember, your his Dad, not his best friend. You can become his best friend when he becomes a man. Until then, you are there to raise him through the crazy teen stage where we all think we know everything and really have no idea.

Childhood? 17 is way past being a child, you are a young man.

The real world has consequences. Soon he will be 18. Do you want him to run around and think he can do whatever he wants with no reaction to his actions.

Make him get a job. I had a part time job, played baseball, and went to school.

If I wanted somthing I had to pay for it. I'm glad my parents did that to me.

Yeah I have pretty much been a softy and that's why he said fucc it i will go if I want to,some of you all don't know this kid,Only makes c's and d's and haven't even passed the exit exam(only has 2 trys left)to graduate,he is larger than I so although i could whoop his *** in a fight he is too big to whoop. The reason he is the way he is is because I wasn't hard enough but now since he is almost an adult he needs to learn to do what the fucc you are told.

You sound like your parents did a good job.

I agree he needs to learn that lesson, but I don't feel taking away Football will cure that.
