Why not just take the middle man out (PS3) and Stream the movies directly computer to tv?A PC to act as your server/host the files, stream the movies to your PS3. That's what I am doing.
I was kind of in the same boat, tired of DVD quality, was going to purchase stand alone blu ray players for my media room & master bed room, start buying blu ray movies, then reality set in, yeah right
So I started reading about how to stream HDx264 files to the PS3. After reading for about an hour, I easily download the tools I need to accomplish this. Very easy & excellent results. I use TVersity to stream the media to the PS3. This was the best option for me, no physical media, just select the movie you want to watch and select it. The only downside so far for me is that there is no menu or chapter selection.
BTW, you can download the files in both 720p & 1080p on quality torrent sites.
I have a PC setup as a server with all my media, I already had this setup for laptop access to media. Plus, the PC is my office/den, the media room & bedroom are far apart and the house is wired with a 1 gb connection. Also, I will run several PS3s accessing the same media. Why not just take the middle man out (PS3) and Stream the movies directly computer to tv?
