Protection Light!

Hi, im trying to install some subs in my car and i have all the wiring from the trunk to the battery, radio, etc. The problem i have, is that i cant solve the red protection light on my amp. When the RCA's are plugged in, the red light comes on even though the ground isnt attached. When i connect the ground from that point the red light turns off but no green light (power) comes on. any help would be appreciated. I have trouble shooted a small bit by putting the remote wire into the 12V slot with the power cord and leading the other end into remote slot but with no avail. Thanks!

Try a different sources for audio input, and try to hook the remote wire straight from the 12 volt source and not to the remote off the radio.
