Ok here is what i want to do i want to improve whatever i can to make my system better sounding anysuggestions would be greatly appreceiated .

My truck is an 04 sierra z-71 extended cab .

My equipment is in my signature.I just got the DEH-P880 had an alpline 7844 but the display screen went out and it didnt have the features i wanted and was getting old.I dont think my fronts have ever been at potential.Here are some pics of my setup.Now please keep in mind i will be deadening the doors and not sure how i should remount my comps seeing as how there all just in the door panels

im pretty sure my 6.5" should be sealed to the door not sure what to do with the tweets and 4" mids,maybe leave them in the door panels?

I was thinking on getting a JL Audio 500/5 to replace the 2 amps i have now and add alittle more power on the fronts and lots more on the sub ?

Not sure what you ment.But a 500/1 can't run your whole system.Not ment for mids/highs.Just bass.

I meant 500/5 sorry typo.

Amd since i put the deck in 2 days ago big diffrence but it still dont seem like it sounds they way it should .

I guess i want more from something not sure what would improve the SQ.

I considered the 500/5 when I was looking for my 5 channel amp. I ended up getting the Kicker KX700.5, because it delivered more power. But I guess power is not your primary problem if I understand your concern it is the system SQ that has you concerned. I am curious about whether you have engaged the Auto TA and Auto EQ in your setup. My mids were kinda deficient until I did that. Now with very minor tweaking I can tune all my musical types perfectly.

yes i did the auto eq and time alignment but i still dont think i got it dialed in good not sure whats going on .

I think i could use some more power but matbe not no one elese seems to think so .

Whish there was someone on here in s.e. michigan maybe i could get some help the shops arent all that helpful with tunning unless im buying something from them maybe the problem is the way my comps are mounted in the door panels ive been saving some extra cash to help enhance this truck and if i sell my amps id have more but im not sure where i should spend the time and the money i guess thats what im wondering.

Dont get me wrong its not horrible sounding but i think it should be better .

Go ahead and start the deadening project at least if it does not improve the sound sufficiently you can move forward knowing that it has been eliminated. And then you can add POWER.

Can you give input on slope setting and frequncy setting i should be using ?

i am using the stock BA crossovers if it matters

And also should i be mounting my 6.5" in the accual door when i do the deadening project or just leave them where i got the . cause seems to me id get better sound if they were sealed in the doors?

Also do i leave the mid and the tweets right in the panel ?

I am using: Sub: 18 db/50 Hz, Front: 12 db/80 Hz, and Rear: 12 db/100 Hz. I am using the stock crossovers for my Polks as well. With the auto TA and auto EQ I get a very clean sound from most of my music. Some songs are not reporduced very well but most are.

EDIT: The existing positions seem fine, but the 6.5 may produce better sound in a sealed door.....But, who knows. I do not envy your position. I had all my speakers installed in the stock locations and the sound stage is very good.
