pros and cons single or dual chamber

i am putting two 12'' r's in a slot ported box. the box will most likely be 4.5 ft3 tuned to 34hz. my question is are there any advantages/disadvantages of using a dual chambered box over a single. i allready know the box will be a little smaller with only one chamber. i do kind of like the fact that with 2 chambers if one sub ever goes out you can still run one of them. also with a single chambered box my port area will be around 45''2 so if i run dual chambers will the port area of eachone be half that or is there a diff. port area i should use when doing this. thanks for any input

Advantage of dual chambers is if u take one sub out or one blows, the other one will still be functional.

Disadvantage is it takes up a little CF in the box. you'll have to make two ports if its vented so its more build time and a larger overall box.

thats a big box so id go with a single chamber, otherwise the box is going to be rediculously big.

So its ok to have a single chamber for two twelves the only dis is if one misfires or blows on you the other would be shit till you get another now whats the likelyness of one blowing on you happening!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

Sorry to bring up a old thread but I was wondering the same thing... Has anybody ever tested the difference between these to?

If everything is in complete working order, there will be no difference. Things go downhill when a woofer is fried //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

single chamber: if you blow one, keep it in there so it seals off the box. keep bumpin.

i only have one of my ssd's hooked up right now (both subs work) off my 600.2..other one is right next to it flappin in the wind. but hey..atleast my suspension is getting broken in
