Proper size tire for a 17" x 7" Wheel

Will a 215/40R17 fit properly? Just unsure on the section width. Should I go with a taller sidewall?

the numbers are width/height/rim size

I just am not overly sure on how to tell how wide the tire has to be respectively to the rim. I understand the rest.

go to a mechanic and ask them.. tell them what you want to do and how you want it to ride.. etc etc..

i bet you end up going lower, you are gonna have fender gap and even being lowered its gonna look 4wd. Thats what happened to me. went 2/3 at first and i was like **** this then it was more like 5/whatever 2" drop leave is with all the leaves out and a 3" block

I ended up going to airbags and with a 205/40r17 it would lay frame but I had to take out the inner fenders, the fender support sat flat on the tire, any bigger and it wouldnt have laid in the front

i would not go with a 215, maybe a 225 at least.

what he said.. atlleast get 225/45/17

althought being in a s-10 you may have clearance issues with a 225 so a 215/45/17 should be straight..
