~Project Stealth Avalanche~ 4 15's, 4krms, dash mod, *pics*

isnt that bezel going to hit the bottom part of the dash where the cig lighter/ ash tray is? I was thinking you had to get the knee panel as well as the panel below the glove box to make the bezel fit right? maybe i am missing something.
actually, yes it will. Just barely though. Some slight shaving before painting will fix that right up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Finally! The weekend. There'll be some serious progress tommorrow and sunday. Tonight all i did was sand the top of the sub box smooth for when the top goes on, which will take place after the box is primed and painted. I also experimented with the joints of the wood, and instead of using silicone, i used wood filler. It looks like its going to come out nicely!

Also, i got some goodies in the mail today. My mechman alternator showed up in perfect condition! Not only did mechman send me an alternator, but they sent me one with adjustable voltage free of charge. Oh, and they gave me free shipping //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

looks like thats gonna be a tight squeeze mounting depth wise... they gonna fit???
yeah, i drew my box up on a drafting program just to make sure. I had about 1/4" of clearance at a 10 degree angled face. I ended up designing the box with a 15 degree angle, so there will be plenty of room.

Not sure what program you used (guessing AutoCad specially if your a civil major) but I love planning my stuff out in Cad. Guess its just easy for me to use now and I can whip something up quick in it. Good for figuring out stuff like this and knowing it is 100% exact. Definitely looking good, can't wait to see the subs from the inside of the truck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Should have done something besides the Rs and the HiFonics amps. I would have glassed your gaps too rather than just using wood filler. But nice project you have going on. Gotta respect that amount of work.

Meh, ive ran a few different brands of subs experimentally over the last year or two. Fi, RE, kicker, and Alpine has been my favorite so far. That, and i got one hell of a steal on the autotek 4k, so i thought i would go all Maxxsonics amplifiers (i couldnt find two matching mean machine 2 channels //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif )

I was originally going to resin the inside of the box, but thought i would experiment with the wood filler in the joints. I am actually quite impressed with the wood filler though. I wont need to silicone or now.

Made some progress today. It was my friends b-day this weekend, so i had one hell of a hangover this morning and got to a late start. I'll be up at 9AM tomorrow though, so a lot more will be done.

Taking the interior all apart:

After looking at the dash, it should be much more easier to get the double DIN in than i had originally expected. There is plenty of room below the heating controls to move them down, and not much to cut out in order to get the new HU in.

Oh, and fyi, this knu fleks wire is pretty **** sweet. I'll try to remember to get some flexibility pictures, but it absolutely blows knu kolossus out of the water (and has the same wire count!)

Hope you don't get any engine noise with the power cable ran next to the rca's like that..
yeah, those 2 runs of power next to the rca's might be trouble...

you should try to move that to be on the safe side while the truck is still taken apart, rather than have to do it again later.

Why not just get a big 4 channel?

As for the wood filler, I don't know that it's going to seal up your cracks like glass wood. If you start to get air leaks, that would be the first thing I'd look at.

My last stereo wiring was ran just like this, and i didnt have any problems. Meh, i'll move the power wire out of the way a little bit, although the power wires will have to cross the RCA's at least once to get to the batteries //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
