Project Log - Big D's System - !!LOTS OF PICS!!

Which size power wire did you wire your TLD66 Line Driver up with? I got one and it's either dead, or not wired properly. Worked for a few mins, and now it's dead. I need to do a final rewire with good cable before I get my money back.

BTW nice REs, and nice amp rack!!!

Nice setup.

Im running a pioneer D3. I can just buy an Ipod cable from pioneer and plug it into the HD? its the same plug as the IPOD?

And where did you get the format to make it work?

Songs show up on the headunit?

Sorry for all the questions. But I was going to get an IPOD just to have music in the car, but this could save me some money.

DID U METER THIS YET...if so how high

Not yet, but there's a local competition in August, and guess who's gonna be there? I hope I get my Kinetik HC2000 before then (it's been a long, drawn out process).

I used 12 gauge, it's only got a 3 amp fuse to it, so it doesn't require much of a wire. And thanks!

Nice setup.

Thanks.

It's a USB cord, it has the standard male end, and it's really cheap. I plug it into my hard drive, and to the USB adapter, which has a female end (***, anyone?). The adapter is IPBUS to the HU, so as long as your head unit has IPBUS feature the adapter will work with the HU as an external drive.

To format, I hook up the drive to my computer, bring up a program called Partition Magic (which does tons of stuff with HD's) and format it to FAT32.

It depends on the HU itself how it will display the tags, but if your MP3's have tags, it will be shown on the display.

Where did you get those hinges from, and how do they feel.

You have a really nice build and vid. Props man.

Got them from home depot. They feel pretty solid. I have 4 on the bottom to lift the entire amp rack, and it is very solid. The top lid could have one more, but it is still solid as far as the hinges go.

HD update: (Actually was done a while ago, but I forgot to include it)

As far as the delay when loading, I have fixed that. I messed around to see where the read was stored, and it is in the USB adapter, but the device must remain on.

I played around with turing stuff off and on, and figured out the IP-BUS cable from the HU has a 12v remote wire to a relay in the adapter. So by cutting the IP BUS cable, and locating the 12v remote wire, I was able to direcetly wire it to a 12v source, with a switch that I can control.

Now it stays on if I turn the ignition off and then to acc. What this means is that playback resumes (where it left off) in the amount of time a CD would take (basically instantly). Then if I am not going to be listening to it for a while, I flip the switch off, and turn it back on when I start my durango in the morning.
