What is involved in getting the HU to read off the Hard Drive?

I have the same headunit and would love to do that instead of using my ipod. I got a 160gig hard drive sitting in front of me right now with all my music on it heh.

To get the HD to work with the USB adapter, I had to format it to FAT32. Then I just copied all my music onto it, and VWAHLAHH! Let there be lots and lots of music...

I used a 2.5" because they are supplied power through the USB cable and I didn't have to run a power cord to it.

The things that I don't like about the HD is when it reads it, it takes 10-15 seconds for playback to start, rather then 2-3 for a CD. I also don't like the tag display, it only is partial screen and doesnt scroll. Other then that, it is awesome having all my music in the D.

LOVE the amp rack, man. Think of doing something SOMEWHAT similar in my soon-to-be setup, but it's gonna be a little different.

Wake sure that glove compartment closes securely and firmly. Also think about adding some kind of padding. Hard drives do not like vibrations at all.
