Well, I decided a few days back to start this lil project. The frame was a gokart I had awhile back, bought from walmart, with a 6hp murray //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/help.gif.cee8f684da1ba626487a8bc51152e1ec.gif

I first off, took the old murray engine off and put a briggs 16hp vtwin on it. Turns out 16 hp is hard to get to the wheels (torque converters weren't very affective.)

Now she is coming together //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

The Old Motor:

The New Motor:

The motor came from an Yamaha R1 (1000cc)

Plz be aware this is a VERY temp setup (below) as I put it together just to get an idea of what needed to be placed where. I had the main mounting locations 100% welded but turns out its a tad to small, so I cut the very top and temp welded a small tube to hold it apart. The motor is sitting on 1 bolt of about 4 to hold it up (just for fun.) Tomorrow I will finish the motor mounts.

omg that is by far the sweetest thing i have ever seen in my life, ive always wanted to build one. once i rode a homemade cart w/ a Artic Cat 440 motor and that was crazy, i can only imagine that beast. please keep us posted!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/popcorn.gif.32dd9e22fd77e77bc3c907062768fcd2.gif

i will post more pics later, that is an older one, new chassis and body work since then. that is the 03 body work. i know a guy that did a 750cc on an extended 125 chassis, it was a piece of ****. there is no way to apply that kind of power without snapping the axle. a 250 shifter at sears point gets about 140 mph. those lay down so much torque, that they break things all the time. this is a 250 shifter that belongs to a nearby team.

this is something different from shifter carts. Don't hardly see 1000cc motors on 400 lb frames
it is going to be **** hard to beat a purpose built chassis and motor built for racing though. i highly doubt that it will perform nearly as well as anything related to the shifter kart racing world.

i highly doubt I could afford a 30k gokart

Uh Bro, how you gonna keep that beast cool?

Yes. It's one of those fundamental truths I somehow manage to unlearn every time I figure it out.
