Project: 10 pounds of crap in a 5 pound bag (pics)

Hmmm...
I don't want anything risky....maybe the HC1400, but I would rather have something that was sidepost only.

The group 75 is the only battery that will fit that is sidepost only.
Well, I know with the optima G34 it is easier to run the wiring because you can put your amplifier wire on the top posts.

That's what I've seen done before.

never knew that; so most likely those big *** f450 trucks will have dual batts?

If it's a diesel, yes. Diesel motors need glow plugs to warm the cylinders so the fuel will ignite (no spark plugs of course). Diesel fuel ignites off combustion, not a spark (sorry about the little explanation but some people think diesel have spark plugs). The glow plugs draw a ton of amps for a short time at start up and you need somewhat high CCA amp batteries to turn the motor over.

I always thought it was from the huge *** starters to turn them over.

It is partly for that as well but the motor will still turn over when it's warm outside even with a weak battery, just slow. It's when it's cold that the motor will not start sometimes because the glow plugs cannot heat it enough.

And now I know why you need so many ring terminals.......

I actually ordered more than I planned on using, even when I add a few more smaller batteries. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Never know when I'm gonna need more. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I too thought it was b/c the starter was 24v

Its because of the glow plugs, AND the facts that diesels run at such high compression (harder to turn over).

Many full size trucks that had the diesel option, also have dual batt tray options. And places like LMC sell both sides.
