i got my subs and amp installed at best buy yesterday and they dont seem to be kicking as hard as they should i have 2 1300 watt single coil sony xplode subs and a 1200 watt 2 channel amp the subs and the amp came together in a package deal the guy at best buy said that since it was a 2 channel amp it will not power a single voice coil sub as much as it is supposed to i really dont know anything about this and i was wondering if you guys could help me.

give em a few days to break in they should get louder and dont turn your gains up trying to get them louder you will just clip

second what ohm are the subs? 2? 4? if your subs are single voice coil 4ohm your probably not sending a decent amout of power to them

i looked up your amp here this one right?

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7668721&type=product&productCategoryId=cat03085&id=1134701343037

it says 200w x 2 @4ohm RMS so your subs are only getting 200w each if they are 4 ohm subs

you were mislead about the 1200w advertisment its all good i was too when i got into car audio

if the amp will play 2 ohm bridged you will get better output if you wire your subs in series to drop to a 2 ohm load

good luck i dont mean to come off like a jerk but you get what you pay for that amp is 200 on best buy . com and you will learn why people spend 600-1000 bucks on a 1000w amp because it actually makes 1000w and a reasonable load

andrew

so could you explain alittle better how i should wire the subs for them to work the best thanks or show me a detailed picture im still very new at this

Your only option with those subs/ amp is to wire each sub to a channel on the amp.

oops, Johnny is right. the amp cannot be bridged with those speakers as it is not rated for a single 2 ohm load.

he could try a different box? need more info on subs and possibly car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

yea...

DO NOT BRIDGE THE AMP

that amp is NOT STABLE AT 2 OHMS as bridging it would yield. if you DID bridge it, you would get the extra power, and then blow the amp up.

so unless you want a toaster instead of an amplifier. i would NOT bridge the amp.

the reason they arent 'kicking' hard, is because the set is incredibly cheap and not worth whatever price you paid. thats pretty much the skinny.

well basicly you got screwed out of your money. you bought it at best buy? the salesman was probly on his last leg for sales at the end of the month and gave u anything u could afford as to make sure you wouldnt leave without buying something. u got screwed pal.. dont expect it to be loud, wether u have a new box, or try and "wire" them differently. next time.. pay attention. read, find out whatever you can about what your interested in, then ask some questions on here. people will be assholes but some of us will help. sorry about your loss of money, but your better off taking it out, setting it on fire, and trying again

i was just checking on the amp at bestbuy.com and it said that this amp was bridgable and that it can be powered at 2 ohms (250 rms) is this true or are they still lying thanks

Both are true.

The amp is bridgeable.

The amp can be used at a 2 Ohm load.

You cannot do both at once. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

As req has already posted that amp is not 2 Ohm stable when bridged (which is the case with the majority of multichannel amps).

You can show each channel, when the amp is in 2-channel stereo configuration, a 2 ohm load individually but you cannot show the amp a 2 Ohm load when in mono bridged configuration unless you are just wanting to burn the amp up for some reason.

i dont really understand what you mean (sorry im very new at this) so with this amp is there anyway i can get more power out of it at all
