Problem with Kenwood deck

Hello everybody.

Today I started up my car and found that my Kenwood KDC-MP522 deck didn't play from the front left speaker and was only playing treble out of the rear left speaker. The right speakers are fine. This deck has been great for 1 1/2 years, so I don't think it's the wiring...but could it be?

Recently some chick backed into my passenger door and the damage caused the right front speaker to cut in and out...but the car's been fixed for a week and the stereo's been fine since then...until today. So I need to ask you all...do you think the channels on the deck have blown somehow, or could a wire have come loose on the left side somewhere? Or could it be related to that right speaker cutting in and out a couple of weeks ago? I'd love some opinions on this. Many, many thanks!

Rob

ps - btw the car is a '98 Cavalier

Thanks for the help. If you're referring to fader/balance, yeah those are fine. Why would the left rear only give me treble?

Anybody else ever have this problem? With a Kenwood? I'm just trying to figure out if I need to take the deck in or if it's a wiring problem...but like I said, the wiring has been good for 1.5 years.

Are these comps or coaxial? Are they amped? If so, where is the amp? Could one of the wires gotten pinched/ cut/messed up? It could just be the HU's amp screwing up.

What do you mean by "comps or coaxial"? I'm pretty sure the wires haven't been pinched or anything as it was only the right side that was worked on, and it's worked fine for a week since it was worked on. If it's the HU's amp screwing up (my first guess) I should just take it in to get fixed, right?

I think its the HU, shouldn't be too hard to find a Kenwood authorized service center.

comp = component speakers (separate tweeter and midrange)

coaxial = tweeter(s) mounted in the middle of the midrange

If the speakers are coaxial, it might be possible that you blew the mid and the tweeter is fine(does that make sense?). Try hooking u another speaker and see if it works ok. You said you've had this set up for a bout a year and a half right? Always check the connections though, a wire could come loose whenever. If everything is still fine, pull the HU out and get it fixed.
