Hi my name is Grant first time posting here. I came into possession of a 13" W7 and the matching 1000/1 JL amp with a Kinetik 2400 power cell. Zero gauge IXOS wire and the rest of the wires all IXOS brand as big as'll fit. It's all shoved into the back of a Dodge Neon '05 haah. This thing POUNDS! I love it. Well I started to turn on the Bass Boost switch where you have control over the parametric EQ with "Q", Center Freq., and Bass Boost. At first it ran great, I had it on 1.1 Q with +3 DB at 45 hz center. But then all of a sudden I started having issues with it shutting off(with NONE of the warning lights on the amp lighting up). I got 2 farad digital cap that always shows 12.7v+ when the sub hits. I had a friend test the sub, tested at 3 ohms. Tried hooking up a small speaker to the amp to see if its the sub, the speaker did nothing. On a hunch I turned the bass boost switch back off and restarted my car. The sub played!!. So I turned the switch back on, sub played for a minute at low volume (very low) and then shut off. So I turned the switch back off and its worked ever since. I never "tuned" the amp when it comes to Input Sensitivity according to what my head unit sends it. My headunit is suppose to put out 4.5v preouts, so I have voltage Input on high with the Input sensitivity knob at only a quarter or 3/4 turn clockwise from zero. If this is not properly set, and I begin turning on other things on the amp that arent even necessarily needed, will that cause my shut offs? Cuz the sub tested at 3 ohms right on the mark, and its currently playing loud as hell (without bassboost on)
Just looking for thoughts, wondering who on here has had this amp before
I have an appointment with custom sounds tomorrow morning, but I wanted to introduce myself to the forums, other opinions are always helpful
