Problem regarding Hifonics amplifier and subwoofers.

...in a 2.36ft^3 truck enclosure.

So basic science would say that the amplifier using the speaker outputs provided with it(4 speaker outputs which are interconnecting within the subwoofer to bypass the need of the usual issue encountered when plugging two subwoofers to a mono amplifier), the two 2-Ohm subwoofers should show a 1-ohm load which should send 500watts to each subwoofer(1000w/2), the subwoofers RMS at 400w, so shouldn't I be able turn the gain down a tad and also ignore the Bass EQ and Bass boost to avoid possible distortion and clipping and still get a powerful bass response due to the slight overpowering of the amplifier?

Well unfortunately with the Gain(or level as on the amplifier) turned to 12oclock, the phase turned to 0, the bass EQ to 0, the bass boost to minimum, the subsonic to...I forgot, Im thinking 20 or 30, and the low pass filter to 40hz. Ok that sounds pretty safe and nice....but no real bass response, even on more bass-heavy songs such as rap and techno.

Any idea whats wrong?

I can achieve loud "rattle your ears" bass, but only if I turn the gain to 0.2v, the bass eq to 5db and the bass boost to either half-way or 3/4 the way to maximum...and thats with the bass, treble levels on the HU set to their max, and the sub-woofer level on the HU set to normal(flat, 0). But I shouldnt need to do all this to get powerful bass because Im supposedly feeding these subwoofers 100 more wattage RMS then they are needing. The bass with these settings does not sound muddy or distorted either, its rather clean, loud, and punchy as you would expect from a sealed enclosure.

Any idea on what I should do, any amp settings I need to change, troubleshooting procedures?

I would say that your crossover was set too low. 40hz is pretty low. I would try higher, as was recommended, at >=70. I use 80 because that's what my HU is preset to... but it sounds great.

Also, doublecheck that the polarity of your subs are correct (+ -).

And, set your gains w/ a DMM.

Polarity is correct, I'll put the crossover to 70.

How do I check the gains with a DMM? Like what am I looking for?

You wouldn't happen to be running a LOC would you?

If you are, perhaps your head unit has a High-Pass filter on whichever speakers you are tapping your LOC into attenuating the bass signal before it even gets to the amp.

Well, first of all, if you have (2) dual two subs, with all coils wired in parallel, you have a net impedance of 0.5 ohm. You might want to rewire them in series/parallel, or you may damage your amp. Also, 40hz low pass is pretty low, as stated previously.

Wait, I'm confused. The subwoofer description says dual 2 ohm, and then also 2ohm svc. Which one is it?

It's SVC 2-Ohm...yeah they did screw up their page but everywhere else it's listed as SVC

Yeah....its SVC...

And.... I changed the crossover to 70hz, sounds alot better now. Still not like 500watts running to the subwoofers, but improvement.
