Premier Amplifier Sale @ TheZeb.com

Originally posted by Jmac Where's your proof that it's not the RMS value ... ?

Logic points me in the direction that it is the RMS rating ... And every single Premier dealer here also says it's the RMS value. And the 2001 Pioneer catalogue says that it's the RMS value.
The Premier dealer I do business with says its the peak rating. You're right the catalog does list the RMS rating for the amps. But if you look at the catalog where it lists continuous power (rms of course) that matches the printed ratings that are on the birthsheet does it not?? YES it DOES. The Pioneer website says the same thing. They rate the amps for rms but they do Hands-ON test for the PEAK value. Otherwise where is the PEAK rating on the amps then??? Huh ?? I know what I'm talking about. They do under rate their amps but not that much. My owner's manual for my PRS-X720 also states continuous power output was as follows:100w X 2 @ 4 ohms, 400w X 1 @ 4 ohms, and 200w X 2 @ 2 ohms. Which also matches the catalog and the website. It doesn't say "see birthsheet". I don't know what Premier dealer you're dealing with but they are mistaken.

yeah! bench test them! cuz if those ratings are for rms power, then it would be too weak for my needs.

if those max power ratings are closer to rms, then it would be sweet!

Please forgive me Jmac and everyone else on this forum for I have given false information. I didn't do it on purpose however I did it none the less. I talked to my local Premier dealer/good friend and he told me it was RMS which I believed to be PEAK rating. The reason for the initial rating (the non-handwritten rating) on the birthsheet is to be able to class the amplifier at a competition in Iasca or Usac. In other words you can enter the 720 as 400 watts, NOT 843 watts that my 720 was tested out to be.

Well, please forgive me everyone (especially JMAC) I stand corrected.

Later, Post ya later!!

P.S. Remember this: the ratings on that sheet are @ 14.4 volts. which means what you get when the car is running. Not when you're just sitting there with the car off.

Like @maylar said, delay the turn on to the amplifier only. 3 to 5 seconds should take care of it.
