Pre-fab Truck boxes

i am looking into getting a 01-02 ford supercrew or ext. cab truck. Was just wondering if the boxes that fit under the seat are any good? What sound do they give your woofer?

Are they worth getting since you have to put such a shallow sub into them. I already have a 05 Alpine Type R.

Would it be better if i just bought/built a box and put it on top of the seat so i could get the full potential out of my sub?
