nah, I just drill wood screws into the box when the sub is in there.

Yep, helps prevent the wood from splitting. Mind you its not a big hole, maybe just a bit smaller than the core of the screw. Just enough to relieve the pressure from the wood.

I don't predrill the mounting holes for the sub, I just get them with screws and it doesn't split.

I predrill everything...just a habbit I guess.

I predrill all screw holes on the box. Comes out much nicer in the end.

^x2...I always have used anchors and machined screws...so you can take them in and out without eventually tearing up the wood
