You more than likely blew one if not both subs, running only 1 voice coil of a DVC sub cuts the power handling in half. Check the impedance of the woofers.Ive heard of a lot of people doing that isnt that the point of having a multi coil woofer ? to run at 2 4 or 8 ohm. And I had this running like that on a lil rockford 325.2 with no problems ever.
Sure bc there is no 3/4 mark on the amp . Depending on ur hu and preout voltage max gain on that amp could be less than "half way up" which would have been a dirty clipped signal..i hope its the crappy subs and not the amp ...unhook it all check the subs with dmm and then hook the amp back with no subs attatched and check output side with dmmOk well I tested the subs and they are just fine, Do you think having the gain at 3/4 for the hour could of killed the amp? even @ 2ohm ?
No they're not. ALWAYS run both coils.DVC subs ARE made to run on coil or both coils.
1 set for 4ohm
both for 2ohm
red to black and over for 8.
and I understand that the rms is halved if your using one coil but your amplifier is also putting out less but that has no effect on the setup because it cancels itself out, each coild will get 500rms weither ran @ 2ohm or 1 ohm.
I UNDERSTAND THAT. but you gotta think 1000rms on the same driver in the same box will runner hotter than 500, even if each indivudal coil is getting the same load.
Cliffs:
subs still work
amp doesnt.
Yea i run the bk 800.4 looks the same its a hefty azz amp...i hope u get it figured outNo thats a good Idea I'll check tomorrow when I get some light, thanks for the help figured I'd see whatsup before sending it back.
I like the inputs on this amplifier though, they use a small allen wrench for the input cover (I guess so it'd be harder to steal) but the actualy inputs use a phillips which is cool. amp doesn't look cheap looks better in person than on the internet and it's pretty heavy.
first of all' date=' OP is a dumb azz for obvious reasons.
Second, he didn't use a DMM.
Third, we have no clue about the quality of wiring.
Forth, get your crap together dude.[/quote']
First, a DMM is not a foolproof way to set an amp. Assuming you can get to the rated power it might be super dirty and clipped with no way of knowing.
Second, it's spelled fourth.
