Powersupply to run car audio in house

Ok... as the title says. I am looking for a powersupply to take 120v mains down to 12v... probably 100amps or so...maybe less...

Any ideas where I can get something? I can take one of my computer PSU's (Seasonic 700w capable of 70 amps on the 12v) but it would require modification as the wire on it would not take nicely to my amp(s).

So im looking for something that doesnt cost an arm and a leg...

Purpose-built power supplies in the amperage range you're looking for are generally fairly expensive //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

If you're looking to save some coin the modification to computer PSUs you mentioned is going to be the only really workable alternative, methinks.

If you don't mind spending a Benjamin or three (three being a more accurate generalization) then go after a Pyramid Phase III or an Astron power supply. Otherwise the PSU mod is going to be the go ~

P.S. - don't scoff at the idea of a Pyramid power supply, by the way, purely due to the brand name. I have two of them....one a 35 ampere and the other a 52 ampere. The 35a unit is more than a few years old and has never given the first sign of trouble. The newer, 52a unit, has given me exactly zero issues as well thus far. The Phase III-series power supplies are likely THE single product made by Pyramid that proves to be reliable unit after unit after unit.

I've always liked Astron 12VDC power supplies.
A great choice, to be sure, but once you've meandered into the realm of triple-digit amperage, the term "inexpensive" is normally invited to leave the discussion, sadly...

Hmm... well what could I run off of 50A? Ultimately what I was thinking was running my HU, PG 5.0:4, and Memphis 1000D. Or something similar to that.

right now somethign bigger then 50A just does not to seem to be in my price range... I would think they would be cheaper. Not a lot has to go into them being they only have output one voltage...

Maybe I will just run the HU for now off my computer PSU (no modification required for that) and start planning to build a 14.4v or 16v power supply...

Where do I buy APS PSU's?
