Sure there is.

U need to have one of the following

a car battery

or

a AC to 12V DC power converter

or

A computer powersupply with atleast 10amps on the 12 volt rail

Then you just hook up 3 maby 4 wires.

Ignition wire.

Constant power

Ground

sometimes illumination

yep just hook up the constant wire (yellow) and ground to your bar battery and you can power it up or u can get a $20 ac to dc converter from radioshack. i have one they always comeint handy at some point of time.

U also need to hook up the ignition wire or it wont turn on.

If your deck has the illumanation wire you will need to hook that up also or no display for you.

Not true. Neither the illumination, nor the the dimmer wire are connected on my 880. Works fine.

okay so the yellow/black wire connects directly to the batt.

MY 680 needed that wire hooked up but some dont. that is why I said sometimes.

you should just need to touch the red (or maybe its yellow) and black wire to the 12v battery under the hood of your car/truck
You need both the constant and ingition wire

thanks for the tip, i tried it a few days ago when i had some spare time...

i hooked up the ground to the - terminal and the power and accessory(red wire) to the + terminal on my car battery and the HU powered up with no problems
