Power wire thru firewall help.....

just get a gromet, and drill a small hole to fit the wire though, i have been wiring through the fender wall lately.
yah, you can get the gromet at an auto parts store... it's really not that scary once you do it and it'll look like any other wire running through the firewall... just make sure you can get to the wire inside the firewall

so there are no existing holes that i can use there?
Well I have no idea on a probe... but another method I've used is drilling and small hole (~1/2 the diameter of the wire) in an existing grommet and lubing the power wire up with shampoo then pushing it through... the rubber will seal around in and it's easy to do...

i find thats the hardest part for first time installers... its not hard, just look for a good spot inside the car that you can get to easily and hidden, then try to locate the same spot on the other side of the firewall, i know this doesn't help much since common sense can give you that much but try to locate something that pertruding the firewall and use it as a reference, for example, the steering column, locate the steering column on both sides the firewall and mark per-say an inch to the left of it (just an example) tis gives you the benefit of the doubt that you will have a nice clean hole with out damaging anything

if you would like my sister has a probe and i can take a look for you... i won't be able to reply until tom tho

g/l.... there isn't a better way.... unless you want to get laughed at (through the fender into the door... uber ghetto style)
i went through the fender, but the door was off at the time getting painted so i drilled right there by the bracket and it ended up perfect, you cant see it with the door open or close. i clear coated the hole, and put a rubber weather seal. 4 years laterr no rust, and its ran into

screw the amp to the back of your backseat, if it folds down you have instant access and if it doesnt then it will be out of the way and look cleaner if you put your box in front of it in the trunk so no one can see it

hey now, I went through a grommet on the side of my car through the fenderwell

Only because my engine bay makes it almost impossible to run through the firewall. Common places for my car are through the steering column boot. Which i didn't want to do. And a mthyical "plastic" grommet that can be drilled out if you remove the glovebox. Well guess what, good luck drilling it out and getting anything larger than 4ga through it.

The way I did it the wire doesnt ever flex, the door never hits it, it runs into the car through a rubber grommet, from there its run under the carpet to the trunk.
