Power wire help

I have a 1000 watt alpine V-power amp for a 12 inch Type-X sub with 4 gauge cable and now Im adding a 300 watt alpine 4 channel V-power for speakers. I've had people tell me to split the 4 gauge cable and run those to both amps. Should I do this or should I have a larger gauge like 1/0 and split that to 4?

well I'll use my own set up as an example. I have a 500rms and a stock amp putting out around 200. I have the stock wires to the stock amp and 4 gauge to the sub amp. I' am upgrading the 0 to a power block and 4's to the amps. I can always add 0's later.

I would get 1/0 and split into 4. It's just always better to have more power just throw another 4guage in

How long should I run that 1/0 before splitting it? Also I fuse the 1/0 gauge cable and then split it at the distribution block right?

I would run it all the way and split it close to the amps

I'm kind of in the same boat. Think I'm going to run 1/0 back, then split with a fused distribution block to 2x4awg.

For that setup, you should be fine with the 4awg run and split it close to the amps. Fuse the 4awg close to the battery.
