Power supply advice

Hello, I'm seeking advice for my 2000 Prelude build.

I've searched many threads and narrowed down on my options.

First of all, I'm running probably around 2000W through 2 Memphis amps, 4 speakers@4 ohm, 1 Fosgate P1@1ohm, and a double-din deck. (More info if necessary).

These are all run with 0 gauge, off a regular interstate battery and the stock alternator (90 amps i believe).

I have done the big 3 in 0 gauge wire too.

Well since I've been experiencing headlight dimming, it seems I need to upgrade/add something.

Here is what I think I should do:

1. upgrade the one battery to a yellow top or kinetik

2. Leave the interstate battery and just add a small kinetik in the back

3. upgrade the alternator

What is the priority of these mods that need to be done? Or is there anything you would change?

 
So you're saying just replacing my interstate with a deep-cell battery won't be sufficient. I can see that.

But would I be able to leave the interstate in the front and simply put a new battery in the back, or will the battery mixing cause interference?

I'm hoping that if I add the second battery I might avoid having to upgrade to a HO alternator. Or is that bad for the batteries?

 
Simply upgrading your batteries and not your alt is a band aid fix that will not relieve any of the stress on your stock alt and will eventually cause it to fail.

I had that happen to me which in turn just about killed my new battery from it dying three times. But OP, are you actually running 2k? I saw that you are running a Rockford P1 so if that's your planned set up all you really need to do is a new front batt as more of a voltage buffer and you'll be okay.

your power has to come from the alternator. dont listen to idiots telling you other wise they are trying to sell batteries.

Sorry, I mixed up the acronym. It's a T1, (Power model, 800 RMS) not P1, running off my memphis mc1000d, and 4 polk audio MM's on my mc4.150. It is possible that I may have overestimated the rms value.

So i'm getting mixed impressions here... One nice Kinetik up-front might work?

It might be important to add that a lot of my music is played while the car is off, like while camping..

 
NEW THEORY!

According to my research, h/o alternator IS the most effective way to go about this...

-BUT that is a pretty expensive route, and I do more listening with the car off...

-I heard that having 2 batteries would strain the alternator

-SO, who thinks i'll be OK with just replacing the single battery with a Kinetik, and leaving my stock alt.? (approx. 1200-1400RMS)

-possible down-falls or dangers?
