power question

I wired my system the other day and I think I have a problem with my fuse or fuse holder. I have 12.5V running to the fuse, but only 8V coming out. I put a multimeter at the end of the fuse and it reads 12.5V, but when I stick the fuse in the holder and check the wire coming out of the fuse holder, it reads 8V. The fuse isnt blown, so i dont know what it could be. Anyone know? Any help would be much apprieciated.

From your description I would suggest something is wrong with either the wire or the fuse connection (or both) on the output side of that fuse holder. Eliminate the fuse holder temporarily from the current path and see if there is 12.xx volts at the amp(s).

If so then the fuse holder needs replacing.

Sounds like you have a bad fuse holder.. what kind of fuse holder do you have? Is something loose or not connected?

Ok so I replaced the fuse holder, not the fuse, and the problem is still there. So im assuming its the fuse. The one that came with my wiring kit is a 80A fuse. I have a Hifonics BX605 (600w rms, 1200 peak) amplifier and 2 10" kicker CompVR 4ohm dvc @ 300w rms apiece with a 1farad Capacitor. What would be the best fuse size?

What type of fuse is it? I've heard about bad solder joints on some types...could be that causing the voltage drop surely.

Remove the cap, Replace the 80a fuse with a 50a fuse. There are fairly cheap and is an easy fix. If that's not the problem??????????
