yeh so can rca cable go bad because mine is kind of browned in some spots it may be wht my system is not working properly

well what exactly happens when they fry do they cut out if you turn it up to high

You will probably get the typical road noise in you speakers. I have personally never fried a pair, but have had friends do it. I always use high quality RCA cables.

I have had a few pair turn brown on some spots as well, but it never affected the performance of the cables.
