Alternator isn't an option it cost too much for my car - no shop has quoted me a price i'm willing to accept so i need to go the other route. Currently, I'm running 1300 watts w/a 85 amp alt w/2 capacitors, and 1 yellow top. FYI - my lights don't dim at all however I have had 2 low voltage warnings.

  • Adding a 2nd Battery
  • Upgrading to a 5 Farad Cap (probably Stinger).

Again, sorry about having the poll w/only two options but those two options are the only way I choose to go so respect it and pick the BEST choice b/w the 2.

haven't done big 3 - i will do that but i want to do one of the 2 things in the poll. i'm running 0/1 guages to distro then 4 guauge to 2 caps then caps to amps

2nd battery! id get something like a kinetik hc800. it has 850-900 amps and its not much bigger than a motorcycle battery!! i think that would be perfect with your limited space in your car.

I'd get a 2nd battery, and something from Kinetik like the HC800 as mentioned.

Your poll says voltage drop in it...

The only way to cure voltage drop is to increase the higher voltage supply - neither of your options do that.

doesn't the cap help prevent it from dropping as fast?
A cap will store voltage, but in order to store it, it has to charge. And you relectrical system charges it. It drains VERY fast though. So your recharging a cap, charging a battery, and powering an amp, ni this case, the cap is probably hurting you with voltage. Get a new alternator.

people don't undrestand about the alt issue i'm having so i'll attempt to explain......

Warren said an alt is not an option - period.

now that i've said that i hope we're all on the same page and understand what we CANNOT do!

adding a cap or 2nd battery will not help so do nothing
