Hey...doesn't that sound a lot like the crusades? The catholic church killed many people in the name of the Christan God.
Is anyone in particular familiar with Thomas Paine - 'The Age of Reason' ? Paine makes the conclusion that anything you read is a second-hand revelation and that the only proof you know that the word you are reading/hearing is divine is simply someone elses word and not God's himself. Given that. Anything you read (even the bible) is second-hand revelation and shouldn't be taken as whole truths. Pretty much, Paine states that if you want to find God, look in His creation - because it's a medium that can't be told to you second-hand, and can't really be counterfeited. Weed is part of that creation and brings me closer to God without sifting through an organized religion. If you want to continue to believe the propoganda the church tells you then be my guest. But it's mainly in the interest of the church, not in the interest of the pilgrim. Before you raise the BS flag, keep in mind, both my parents are pastors and I know the system in and out. The purpose of religion is to help people find God in their own way - what it is now is an organization that begs for money so that it can be self-sustaining.

So before you tell someone their going to hell. Think outside your miniscule box and realize that nobody has the right religion.

I'm not a member of any Church. I have never been baptized. I really don't care, I'm simply playing Devil's advocate. I find it odd that, in previous arguments, he never once mentioned that he had his own religion...he only said that God wanted us to smoke weed, and used that as a crutch for his drug use. But once we have an actual debate over the issue, he turns to the "it's my religion, don't knock it" defense. If I were a religious person, I would find that demeaning...hell, I'm not a religious person and I find it demeaning.

In a way, I kinda agree with this. We have no idea what state of mind these people were in that wrote chapters of the bible. On top of that, things we say and do today, are interpreted totally different than they would be 20 years ago. Thus the conclusion that most likely there are things misinterpreted in the bible.

On another note, George, what in the hell are you thinking? I thought your reasons for smoking weed were strange, now I just think your a psychotic pothead.

Man oh man, this thread is so chocked full unresolvable arguements that its absurd. When people start putting pot-smoking and the word of God together it just pisses people off even more, so whoever started that side of this thread made a very ignorant choice in doing so.

There is absolutely no way the two sides of this arguement will ever agree, so I'm basically just throwing my two cents in for the hell of it. I've smoked pot pretty regularly for the past 2 years now. I guess I'm what most people will call a stoner. However, I've retained a 4.0 average throughout highschool, am applicable for numerous scholarships, play soccer and skateboard (both very strenuous activities that require one to be NOT LAZY) and have a pretty good idea of what I want to do with my life. So anyone who says that "EVERYONE who smokes pot is unmotivated, lazy, and stupid." is being very stupid and overgeneralizing to the max, and proving once more that propaganda and yellow journalism from the early 1900s still has a heavy influence on people's minds today. Whats the word I'm thinking for......oh yes, SHEEP!

let me show u guys my personal view on this argument. Theres no such thing as god everything is scientific. Live life the way u wanna, smoke, kill, be the best person u can be, stay clean and work hard, do wateva u wanna do life is short stop *****in. no such thing as heaven, hell, or reincarnation. Thats my view. As for the bible who's to say it wasnt jus some one's story they wrote when they were bored? Wats the proof that all the things said ACTUALLY happened??
