I agree the kid needs to be locked up for being a dumb *** and killing 3 people, but they shouldn't blame pot. it is bullsheet that he is being charged for driving intoxicated. either way his actions were dumb and irresponsible, i'm guessing he does 2 years and then just gets a bunch of probation time

From what I read, he's being charged with killing 3 people and a baby, hope they give that s*hitbag life in prison. The fact that he had metabolites in his system is just an extra charge, people in here are making it sound as if he's only being charged because of this, he's being charged because he was stupid and drove 66 mph in a 55 mph area and then drove through a stop sign. He was probably stoned when he did it. He was lying when he told them it was from two weeks before, and it was his "first and only time", yeah right, thats a typical response from a young stoner. Even if he didn't smoke that day, he was still dumb enough to smoke in the first place and deserves a death penalty for his actions. I know thats what I'd give him if he killed my kid.

Maybe I missed where he said how much he did weed. The fact is though if he did it only once and two weeks prior it probably wouldn't even show up in a test. Due to the possibility of error those tests look for habitual use, not one time use.

The half life of THC is usually 20 hours to 10 days depending on how a person metabolizes it. So somebody could get ripped, and still have half the level of THC in their system a week later...who knows how long it could have been in his blood.

This is why weed should not be legalized, there is no concrete way to test for its immediate impairment on drivers (roadsides are at the cops discretion, unlike a breathalyzer that is hard data).

That said, this idiot ran a stop sign, weed or not, he fukd up.
