Post your Whip

I haven't ever listened to Audiopipe. Why don't you like?? I'm just curious.
You do not have to listen to one, just research them. AP did not re-design amplifier technology to create a $100 class d amplifier, and if you investigate their amps beyond rms rated output, this is plain as day.. I trust it about as far as I could throw one. A cheap knock off is about all I see in them.

Seems to me, anything that cheap as far as amps, subs, whatever, is gonna be corner-cut kinda stuff. Beyond RMS? I'm not sure I'm following here. I don't know a lot about this stuff, but that's why I'm here. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't peak output just an advertising gimmick? Cheap subs can be rated at 300w RMS with a peak output of 1300w, but there's no way you could run 1300w to it...Right? Or, am I missing your point totally?

you are right on..the RMS rating is the rating to go by I was referring to ratings other than power output..like THD, S/N, etc.

So, basically, those ratings mean nothing? I also read somewhere that on a head unit, that the higher the S/N, the better?..
yes...S/N should not be the sole basis for selecting equipment, but is usually accompanied by other less than desirable ratings as well. Here is decent comparison in media used: picture a Cassette Tape as having a S/N of 60db and a CD as having a S/N of 100db...which sounds better? All devices create noise, the S/N is basically a glance at how much noise the component will generate into the signal based on the spl difference between the noise the component generates and the actual signal. (I am not a engineer, so if I mis-interpret something you learn later, don't hold it against me) ..when looked at next to the THD rating, which is a measurement of how much harmonic distortion the component adds to the signal, the picture expands a little bit...Now you are looking at the possibility of audible hiss made by the device and possibly audible distortion introduced into the signal as well. Let's look at a AP amp like the $120 Audiopipe ASPM1500:

THD - At least 1%

S/N - less than 70db

they do not give accurate info, just the greater or less than signs()

but, it makes almost the rated 1500 watts rms at 14 volts...which is all that matters to a electronic measuring device such as a SPL meter.....i like to consider the specs that are there for your ears, not some dang SPL meter.
