If you're just going to be a Real Estate Agent/Broker you don't need a college degree. You need a license which you go to school and take a state test for. It's pretty hard to make money in real estate unless you know people. Most of my business now comes from referals/sign calls and the internet. Building the client base in the first place is what's hard.

If you're the type of person who needs a schedule of when you have to go into work, it's probably not for you. I have no weekends, I work 7 days a week. Granted not all day every day, but rarely do I have a day in advance that I know I'll have free. Now, there's a lot of freedom with the job, but if you don't make yourself work you won't make money. Budgeting is wierd as well, as sometimes you can make a whole lot of money one month then barely any the next.

my advice, if you want to do the real estate thing, get a side job. it's hard to make money right away with real estate. but if you want to know what i did, i'm an enginerd. i like it, but work is work, it's never really that fun.

I will be attending the university of florida this fall, i plan on studying finance to eventually become an investment banker..yay.

I-banking makes me cry. I will finish up my degree soon and if I still am not married, I plan to go to University of Chicago for my masters to study just that. I hope you enjoy 80 hour work weeks....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I have an interview Tuesday with Wells Fargo to be a defined benefit/ defined contribution consultant/analyst. Job will really ****. I will use the interview as training because I don't want the job.

I wish I could be a student and live at home forever....Peter Pan ftw.

Let's see...I have a degree in Econ from one of the most prestigious schools in the country. I'll probably never use it. I'm in the Air Force flying combat missions during the day and going home to my wife at night (**** it, fighter pilots!).

My wife has a degree in International Relations and will never use it. She is a Realtor here in Vegas and is pretty much one of the rising stars in Coldwell Banker here. The main broker (the real fat cat) doesn't have a degree at all, he got his license at 18, and is a millionaire. Totally self made. Making it in rela estate comes down to two things: willingness to work hard and the ability to talk to people and sell yourself. You are the product that you are pushing, not the house.

Where did you go?

I work for the IT dep at a local company doing field tech support. Great money for my area, and its right next to my college. I dont do shit all day but take a couple tech calls (about 10-15 calls per day) and smoke cigarettes. Hell, I'm at work right now! I spend most of my time surfing the net, looking at this forum and talking on Yahoo. 40hrs/week, full benefits, PTO, bonuses, raises. If you in it for cash, and you have some interest, computer science fields are the way to go. Also, not to piss anyone off, but degrees you generally want to avoid are sociology, psychology, education etc. Generally they are either worthless degrees unless your in a specialized field, and may not pay worth a shit if your in education. MY dad has a BA in sociology and Criminal justice, and has never done shit with either.

not sure if this has been said yet... But find a government job. If you know what you are interested in, there will be a government opening for that position... Goverment jobs pay great, and give all the benefits you need.

But since you want to know what we're doing... I'm a data collector for a government agency, and that is paying my way through law school. Hopefully will be some type of lawyer soon, just entering my 2nd year of law school and losing interest in it already tho...
