I do not currently have a pet as my last one was incredibly special to me and I've not had the urge to get another one as of yet...

Man im sorry to hear about that. I know how much my dane means to me. They really are the best breed of dogs...once you have one and see the personality there is no going back. I cant even think about losing my blue, named lou. Yours looked like a sweet heart.

And you people talking about having dogs sleep on the bed...try it with a great dane..danes are short haired so they think they should be under the covers too! I had to get a cali king sized bed otherwise i kept ending up on the floor in the middle of the night.

She was my third and you're exactly right. After the first one that I had in my teens I decided then I'd never have another breed. This one was registered as Jonathan's Anniversary (as she was an anny gift from the at-the-time g/f) and you take the first bits of each part to get JoAnn, which is what we called her. I've loved every animal that has ever been a part of my family but JoAnn has a very special place in my heart and more often than not was referred to as "my 4-footed child." She is missed dearly.

My workaround for that was to simply give JoAnn her own bed that sat close to mine. Very true, thats what can make them mean. They really need to be a big part of the family with a lot of interaction. Plus they are so freakin big that for the most part they are just lazy couch doggies (like me). Takes them too much energy to really do anything besides eat, snuggle and sleep. Besides if you have one and could even think of making it an outside dog your a heartless bastard. Like he said they really are so sweet, the nicest most loyal dogs ever. I wont say i wont ever have any other breed only because i end up rescuing dogs from bad situations when i can..but i know i will only plan on getting Danes. I want a Boston coat pattern next, because i dont think i could replace my blue with another blue.

This is my dog. And no she isn't fat. Her fur is very long as she's a winter dog and winter is 7-8 months where I live.

my eskimo spitz and some other kind mix lol. mostly spitz though. payed 150 for her, and shes going on 5 years i believe. shes SMAAARRTTT but barks way too much.
